Click Tracking: Does the variable after the # change for every user?

I'm wondering whether the variable AddThis appends to urls when they're shared changes for every user sharing the url, or whether it's the same variable for all users.

I'd like to be able to track which users get the most click-throughs on a link they share. I guess I could add my own URL fragment to be able to track this, but I won't do that if AddThis has similar functionality.

This would be useful in a situation where users who get the most click-throughs from their shares get a prize or something.

Kind regards,

Ed

I was thinking about how I could track click-throughs for individuals if AddThis doesn't append unique variables for each person sharing the link.

I guess I could add a unique URL fragment for each person who clicks the AddThis sharing button, then pass it through bit.ly or a similar service, then use them to see how many clicks each share gets.

Is there a better way to do it?

Kind regards,

Ed
